The fire was reported at 5:09 p.m. Wednesday at the Baumann & Sons Bus Corporation at 1701 Front St., according to the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to damaging the buses, the fire also damaged part of the repair area of the garage and the structure sustained heavy damage as a result of the fire, the fire department reported.

During the height of the fire, firefighters were able to mitigate any fuel or hazardous fluids leakage with the use of Haz-Mat booms and Haz-Mat pads that might have begun to mix with the runoff from the water and foam that was used to extinguish the fire.

The depot serves local schools, and officials said they would be open today and drivers should report to work.

"Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the fire at Baumann," tweeted Yorktown Superintendent of Schools Ron Hattar Wednesday night. "So grateful to the first responders of Yorktown!"

No one was injured during the fire.

The fire is currently under investigation. The scene was turned over to the Town of Yorktown Building Inspector, the department said.

Fire departments assisting on the scene and with station back-up included Bedford Hills, Buchanan, Croton-on-Hudson, Millwood, Mount Kisco, Ossining and Somers. Also assisting included Yorktown police, the Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Empress EMS.
